Jake, Giants and Rays – Happy Dad’s Day

Jake is on the mound after an extra day’s rest.

Belt beat a check swing single to first to open the game.

Jake on the mound, to open the game. His first pitch a called strike, Jake has never been beaten at Tropicana Field. The roll Jake had at home his last outing, jarred him a little requiring the extra day off. Jake’s misthrow to 1st allowed the runner from 3rd to score, Ray’s open the scoring, 1 to 0. Jake charged with the error. Jake hits the batter, another 90 foot mistake, Error #2 on Belt.

Bottom of 2nd Belt should’ve flipped to Jake for the out but it’s a bunt single. Error on Crawford,

Bottom of 3rd and that lead off hitter manages to get on base – you can see Jake’s frustration. The offense seems to get Jake in trouble but he finds a way to pitch out of it.

Brandon Belt ties up the game at 1 all with a solo shot to right to open the 4th inning.

Bottom of the inning and Jake is working well, talking to himself but also settling himself right before he throws, its working.

Duffy with a leadoff double to open the 5th inning. Pagan with a single holding Duffy at 3rd. Pagan safe at 2nd after the steal.

Bottom of 6th Jake looked great, 102 pitch total and looks like he is done for the day, It’s his best outing yet.

Derek Law up and getting loose in the pen in the Top of the 7th, Jake has passed the office keys to Derek in the bottom of the 7th

Blanco opens the 8th with a single to right, Span with the bunt to move Blanco to 2nd, Panik with a single to get Blanco home for a 2 to 1 Giants lead, Belt with a walk, Panik to second, Posey with a single bringing Panik home for a 3 to 1 lead, Conor Gillaspie with a base clearing double to bring home, Panik and Posey for a 5 to 1 Giants lead.

The Giants go on win the game 5 to 1 and sweep the Rays.

Jake completed 6 inning, allowing 1 earned run, 1 walk and 8 strikeouts. He threw 102 total pitches with 70 of those strikeouts. dropped his ERA to 5.47

 

Jake’s next appearance should be during the Phillies series
